Delete Your VanshVatika Account
To delete your account and all associated data, please log in first.
Log in to delete your accountAlternatively, you can email us at support@vanshvatika.com to request account deletion.
VanshVatika respects your privacy and gives you full control over your data. You can delete your account and data directly from this page, or by following the instructions below.
What Data We Store
When you use VanshVatika, we store the following information:
- Your name, email address, and phone number
- Profile information (date of birth, gender, bio, city)
- Profile photo (stored on Cloudinary)
- Family tree relationships you create
- Push notification subscriptions
- Chat messages (encrypted)
If you signed in using Facebook, we additionally store:
- Your Facebook profile picture URL
- Your Facebook ID for authentication
We do not access your Facebook friends list, posts, photos, or any other social data.
Steps to Delete Your Account
Follow these steps to permanently delete your VanshVatika account and associated data:
Method 1: Delete from This Page (Recommended)
- Log in to your VanshVatika account (if not already logged in).
- Click the "Delete My Account" button above.
- Review the data that will be deleted and type DELETE to confirm.
- If you have a password-based account, enter your password for verification.
- Click "Delete Account". Your account and data will be deleted immediately.
Method 2: Email Request
- Send an email to support@vanshvatika.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request".
- Include the email address associated with your VanshVatika account in the body of the email.
- If you signed in via Facebook, please mention that in your request.
- We will verify your identity and process your request within 30 days.
Method 3: Remove Facebook App Access
If you signed in using Facebook, you can also remove VanshVatika's access to your Facebook data:
- Go to your Facebook Settings → Security and Login → Apps and Websites.
- Find "VanshVatika" in the list of apps.
- Click Remove to revoke access.
- Then use Method 1 above or email us to complete the deletion of data already stored on our end.
Data That Is Deleted
When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed:
- Your user account and login credentials
- Profile information (name, email, phone number, date of birth, gender, bio)
- Facebook-linked data (Facebook ID, name, email, profile picture)
- Your profile photo from our image hosting service
- Push notification subscriptions
- Chat messages (encrypted messages are cleared)
- Notifications
- Role assignments
Data That Is Anonymized or Retained
To preserve the integrity of connected family trees for other members, the following data may be anonymized rather than fully deleted:
- Family tree relationships:Your node in the family tree is anonymized (personal details removed, displayed as "Deleted User") so that other users' trees remain intact. No personally identifiable information is retained.
- Audit logs: Your identity is removed from activity logs which are retained for compliance purposes. No personally identifiable information is kept.
- Posts and comments:Content you authored is attributed to "Deleted User" rather than removed, to preserve context for other users.
Retention period: For self-service deletion (Method 1), your account and personal data are deleted immediately upon confirmation. There is no additional retention period. Anonymized audit logs are retained indefinitely for compliance purposes but contain no personally identifiable information.
Confirmation
For self-service deletion, your account is deleted immediately and you are signed out. For email-based requests, we will send a confirmation email once the deletion is complete (within 30 days).
